FUNCTIONS
In achieving its objectives, MDP will implement the following functions:
- Multiply its efforts to increase and diversify revenue sources to reduce dependence on Assessment Tax collections
- Upgrade the level of skills and effectiveness of municipal services in line with the demands, preferences and comfort of residents.
- Upgrade beautification efforts of the area and the monitoring of health and hygiene issues.
- Encourage the physical development in line with state planning policy and following the stated priorities.
- Increase the development of government-owned land in Pekan District in commercial and real-estate/investment projects.
- Review rental rates of upgraded stalls while increasing efforts to recover back-rentals of stalls.
- Increase the quantity and quality of cleanliness campaigns, courses and ’gotong-royong’ amongst the business community and residents.
- increase the skills and competency of PDC staff through various courses, seminars and training, be they conducted internally or externally.
- To maintain and restore existing public facilities such as public toilets, playgrounds as well as ditches and drains
