Tasik Chini
Tasik Chini occupies over 12,565 acres of forested land and is the second largest natural lake in Malaysia. It is situated on the right bank of the Pahang River and is formed from the confluence of 12 streams. It is also known as the ’sea’ by local inhabitants. There are several mysteries connected to Lake Chini, like the myth regarding the presence of a dragon and a submerged Khmer town of long ago. These myths are part of the folklore of the Jakun people.
Among activities available here are fishing, trekking, canoeing, picnicking and camping. There are also chalets for hire and visitors may visit villages nearby or hire a boat to explore the Para Lake area. Visitors may reach Lake Chini via Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bharu and Melaka. These routes will lead to 11 entrance points to Lake Chini, located at Kg Belimbing, Muadzam Shah and the Paloh Hinai intersection.
